Job Summary

The accounting assistant / junior accountant performs a range of diverse simple and complex accounting and clerical tasks to contribute to the success of the accounting department and to provide accurate and reliable information about the company’s financial position.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ongoing general ledger support/analysis
  • Assist with the payroll process
  • Assist with AP process
  • Assist with A/R process
  • Analysis and reconciliation of bank statements
  • Analysis and reconciliation of credit card statements
  • Accrual accounting
  • Prepaid expense/amortization accounting
  • Georgia Use Tax preparation
  • Fixed asset accounting/reporting
  • 3rd party billing reporting
  • Remote banking
  • Creation of SAGE and Paychex query reports
  • Assist with monthly close procedures
  • Prepare account reconciliations and supporting sub-ledgers as assigned
  • Research and resolve account reconciling items
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Maintaining internal financial and accounting controls and procedures
  • Prioritize and execute all tasks and assignments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Knowledge and compliance with applicable professional codes of conduct, ethics, and federal, state, and local rules and regulations

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have Associate Degree or be pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with relevant work experience or training
  • 2+ years of related experience required with substantial general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax and banking knowledge
  • Prior accounting experience in the healthcare field preferred but not required
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications with a heavy emphasis on Excel and spreadsheets required
  • SAGE ERP 500 and Paychex experience a plus
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic essential
  • Capable of working in a team environment with shared responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work with sensitive information required
